Is Hideroom a document vault?
Yes: a document vault on your phone. Passports, IDs, certificates, insurance cards and recovery words go in a private room, encrypted on the phone before anything is backed up, and only you hold the keys. Is it safe to keep a photo of my passport on my phone?
Safer in Hideroom than in your camera roll: it will be encrypted on the phone and open only for you: with your pattern on this phone, or the room’s recovery phrase on a new one. Lock that room with a long pattern. More on passport photos.
Can I keep my seed phrase in Hideroom?
You can, and it’s encrypted. But a photo of recovery words is only as safe as the phone, so for larger amounts keep a paper or metal copy too.
Can Hideroom remind me when my passport expires?
Type the expiry date and the document shows a Renew soon chip in the app. Reminders come later, because notifications would show the app’s name.
What happens to my papers if I lose my phone?
Restore the room on a new phone with its recovery phrase. It comes back from the encrypted backup in your own iCloud; Hideroom never holds it.
